FORMER CLARKSVILLE ATTORNEY DISBARRED

On December 13, 2001, the Supreme Court of Tennessee entered an order disbarring Attorney Charles H.
Brown.

Mr. Brown misappropriated client funds, failed to communicate with clients, neglected client matters and
failed to respond to the Board of Professional Responsibility regarding multiple complaints of misconduct. On
January 7, 2000, the Supreme Court of Tennessee temporarily suspended Mr. Brown for failure to answer the
Board of Professional Responsibility regarding a complaint of misconduct. Brown has remained temporarily
suspended since January 7, 2000.

Disciplinary Counsel filed petitions for discipline against Brown pursuant to Rule 9, Rules of the Supreme
Court of Tennessee. Mr. Brown failed to file any answers to the petitions and failed to appear at the hearing in his
disciplinary case. The hearing panel of the Board of Professional Responsibility recommended Brown be disbarred.
Mr. Brown did not appeal and on December 13, 2001, the Supreme Court of Tennessee entered an order
disbarring the respondent.

Brown’s disciplinary case was held pursuant to Supreme Court Rules 8 and 9. In Tennessee, disbarred
lawyers may after five years apply for reinstatement of their law licenses. However, to be reinstated, Mr. Brown
must show by clear and convincing evidence that his reinstatement will not be detrimental to the integrity and standing
of the bar and administration of justice or subversive to the public interest.
