MONTGOMERY COUNTY LAWYER DISBARRED
On June 22, 2012, the Tennessee Supreme Court disbarred Donrua Barnes-Hulsey, a Montgomery
County attorney.
The Board of Professional Responsibility filed a Petition for Discipline against Ms. Barnes-Hulsey
pursuant to Rule 9, Section 8.2, of the Rules of the Supreme Court of Tennessee. A Hearing Panel found Ms.
Barnes-Hulsey neglected client matters; failed to communicate with clients; and abandoned her practice.
Ms. Barnes-Hulseyâs actions violate Rules of Professional Conduct 1.3 (diligence); 1.4
(communication); 1.16 (terminating representation); 3.2 (expediting litigation) and 8.4 (misconduct).
Ms. Barnes-Hulsey was ordered to pay the expenses and costs of the disciplinary proceedings against
her pursuant to Rule 9, Section 24.3, of the Rules of the Supreme Court, and fully comply in all respects with
the requirements and obligations of disbarred attorneys as set forth in Rule 9, Section 18.
