BOARD OF PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITY

CHATTANOOGA LAWYER CENSURED

Charles Daniel Collins, a Chattanooga attorney, was publicly censured by the Board of
Professional Responsibility on July 28, 2003, for neglecting his client's divorce action, handling the
client's divorce without the preparation adequate in the circumstances, failing to act with reasonable
diligence and promptness, failing to keep the client reasonably informed about the status of the
matter, and failing to explain the matter to the extent reasonably necessary to permit the client to
make informed decisions regarding the representation. Mr. Collins' conduct was in violation of DR
6-101(A)(2)(3) and DR 7-101(A)(1)(2)(3) of the Code of Professional Responsibility.

A public censure is a form of public discipline which declares the conduct of the lawyer
improper, but does not limit the lawyer's right to practice law.
