WILSON COUNTY ATTORNEY DISBARRED
On October 1, 2012, the Tennessee Supreme Court disbarred Gary Wayne Vandever, of Wilson County,
Tennessee, retroactive to his November 24, 2010, Order of Temporary Suspension. Mr. Vandever consented to
disbarment because he could not successfully defend himself on charges filed against him with the Board of
Professional Responsibility alleging that he had been convicted of three (3) counts of Theft of Property Over
$60,000.00 due to the misappropriation of funds for his own use and benefit. Mr. Vandeverâs actions violated
Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 8, Rule of Professional Conduct 8.4(a), (b), (c), and (d) (misconduct).
Mr. Vandever must comply with the requirements of Section 19 of Rule 9, Rules of the Supreme Court,
should he seek reinstatement of his Tennessee law license and may not resume the practice of law until
reinstated by further Order of the Tennessee Supreme Court. Mr. Vandever must further comply with Section
18 of Rule 9, Rules of the Supreme Court, regarding the obligations and responsibilities of disbarred attorneys.
