TIPTON COUNTY ATTORNEY PUBLICLY CENSURED

Tipton County Attorney Richard D. Cartwright received a Public Censure on October 14, 2004
from the Board of Professional Responsibility. The censure was issued by the Board pursuant to
Rule 9, Section 8 of the Rules of the Tennessee Supreme Court. Cartwright did not request a
hearing in the matter.
Two complaints were filed against Cartwright. In both instances Cartwright neglected his
clientsâ legal matters and failed to adequately communicate with his clients in violation of Rules
1.1, 1.3, 1.4 and 8.4 of the Tennessee Rules of Professional Conduct.
The imposition of this censure declares Cartwrightâs actions to be improper ethical conduct, but
does not limit his right to practice law.
