On October 4, 2019, Ronald Andre Stewart, an attorney licensed to practice law in Tennessee, received
a Public Censure from the Board of Professional Responsibility of the Tennessee Supreme Court conditioned
upon payment of fees to the Board of Professional Responsibility.
Mr. Stewart was retained to represent a client in a medical malpractice claim. Mr. Stewart delayed in
filing the complaint and did not timely issue the summonses on the defendants. Due to the delays, Mr. Stewart
dismissed the case without properly consulting his clients.
Mr. Stewart executed a conditional guilty plea in which he acknowledged his misconduct violated
Tennessee Rules of Professional Conduct 1.1 (competence), 1.3 (diligence), 1.4 (communication), 3.2
(expediting litigation), and 8.4(a) and (c) (Misconduct).
A Public Censure is a rebuke and warning to the attorney, but it does not affect the attorneyâs ability to
practice law.
