SHELBY COUNTY LAWYER REINSTATED
On August 28, 2014, the Supreme Court of Tennessee reinstated the law license of Elbert Jefferson, Jr.
Mr. Jefferson had been temporarily suspended by the Supreme Court of Tennessee on July 14, 2014, for failing
to respond to the Board of Professional Responsibility regarding a complaint of misconduct. Section 4.3 of
Supreme Court Rule 9 provides for the immediate summary suspension of an attorneyâs license to practice law
in cases of an attorneyâs failure to respond to the Board regarding a complaint of misconduct. Mr. Jefferson
filed a Petition to Dissolve Temporary Suspension on July 28, 2014, asking the Court to reinstate him. A
Hearing Panel appointed to hear the Petition recommended to the Supreme Court that the temporary suspension
be dissolved. Mr. Jefferson was ordered to pay costs and expenses of the proceeding.
