PERRY COUNTY LAWYER SUSPENDED DUE TO CRIMINAL CONVICTIONS
On April 12, 2010, the Supreme Court of Tennessee issued an Order suspending the law license of
attorney Bobby A. McGee of Linden, Tennessee, pursuant to Section 14 of Supreme Court Rule 9 which
provides for the immediate suspension of an attorney upon the attorneyâs plea of nolo contendere or plea of
guilty, or upon a finding of guilt by a jury or trial court in a criminal matter involving a serious crime. The
Court referred the matter to the Board of Professional Responsibility for the institution of a formal proceeding
in which the sole issue to be determined shall be the extent of the final discipline to be imposed as a result of the
convictions.
McGeeâs suspension is based upon two criminal matters: United States of America vs. Bobby Albert
McGee, Case No. 4:07cr72-SPM, filed March 5, 2009 in the United States District Court Northern District of
Florida, Tallahassee Division; and United States of America vs. Bobby A. McGee, CR. No. 08-20189-M1, filed
August 7, 2009 in the United States District Court for the Western District of Tennessee. In the first case, a jury
found McGee guilty of two (2) counts of Using Interstate Commerce to Induce a Minor to Engage in Sexual
Activity in violation of 18 U.S.C. Section 2422(h). In the second case, McGee pled guilty to knowingly
possessing one-hundred and eighty-five (185) child pornography computer image files in violation of 18 U.S.C
Section 2256 and 18 U.S.C. Section 2252(a)(4)(B).
As a result of an earlier disciplinary matter, McGeeâs law license was already suspended until July 19,
2011, by an Order of Enforcement entered by the Supreme Court of Tennessee on October 7, 2008.
