Suspended for thirty (30) days by order entered July 14, 1988. He was the attorney for the
executor of an estate. The complainant was the beneficiary of a substantial amount of money
from the estate. Two weeks after she received her distribution, Brodhead requested a loan of
$30,000 from her and told her he would secure the loan with a lot and a mobile home which he
assured her were free of all encumbrances. However, the property had a first mortgage and his
ex-wife also had a lien on the property. Under the conditional guilty plea, he was required to
make $850 payments to the complainant until his debt to her of $51,000 was extinguished. If he
missed more than one payment after his initial 30 day suspension, he would immediately be
suspended for 10 months and 29 days, to be followed by an indefinite period, until his debt is
satisfied.
