On July 28, 2025, Terry Renease Clayton, an attorney licensed to practice law in Tennessee, received a
Public Censure from the Supreme Court of Tennessee.
Mr. Clayton engaged in the unauthorized practice of law between January 22, 2024, and February 22,
2024, while his license was suspended by Order of the Tennessee Supreme Court. Mr. Clayton entered a
Conditional Guilty Plea admitting his conduct violated Tennessee Rules of Professional Conduct 5.5
(unauthorized practice of law) and 8.4(a) (misconduct). Mr. Clayton is responsible for Board costs and
Tennessee Supreme Court fees.
A Public Censure is a rebuke and warning to the attorney, but it does not affect the attorneyâs ability to
practice law.
