Public censure on September 27, 1990. He qualified as executor for the estate of his paternal
grandmother. He then prepared forms against the estate for two heirs, both of whom were his
close relatives. He did not strenuously oppose the claim, although he did file exception. He also
failed to make a timely tax and accounting filings for the estate. As a result of his errors,
McFarlin and his law firm were denied substantial fees and were required to reimburse tax
penalties.
