NASHVILLE ATTORNEY PUBLICLY CENSURED
Nashville attorney Janet Metney Lane received a public censure on October 14,
2002 by the Board of Professional Responsibility. The censure was issued by the
Board pursuant to Rule 9, Section 8 of the Rules of the Tennessee Supreme Court.
Lane did not request a hearing in the matter. Lane became associated with the law firm
of Blackburn & McCune, P.L.L.C. under the fraudulent premise that she had a valid
license to practice law. It was learned by the law firm that Lane had pending an
application for reinstatement of her license which had been on inactive status since
September of 1996.
By her actions, Lane violated DR 1-102(A)(4)(5)(6)(7); DR 3-101(B) and 7 -106(A)
of the Code of Professional Responsibility.
