HAMBLEN COUNTY LAWYER CENSURED
On July 30, 2012, Andrew Nicholas Wilson, an attorney licensed to practice law in Tennessee, received
a Public Censure from the Board of Professional Responsibility of the Supreme Court of Tennessee.
Three complaints were filed due to Mr. Wilson leaving the private practice of law in order to take a job
in state government. He indicated that he would complete his existing cases, but he ceased communicating with
his clients and did not perform the work he was retained to do. Therefore, Mr. Wilson failed to act with
reasonable diligence, failed to communicate with his clients, and failed to expedite litigation in violation of the
Rules of Professional Conduct (RPC). Furthermore, upon leaving the private practice of law, Mr. Wilson
essentially abandoned his clients, which is also a violation.
By these acts, Andrew Nicholas Wilson has violated RPC 1.3 (diligence), 1.4 (communication), 1.16
(declining and terminating representation), and 3.2 (fairness to the opposing party and counsel) and is hereby
Publicly Censured for these violations.
A Public Censure is a rebuke and warning to the attorney, but it does not affect the attorneyâs ability to
practice law.
