registration information online.

| I'm licensed in Tennessee. Do I need to create an online account on the Pro Hac Vice Attorney Portal?
No; the Pro Hac Vice Attorney Portal is only for those attorneys licensed in other states, who are seeking admission Pro Hac Vice pursuant to Rule 19 of the Supreme Court of Tennessee.
Attorneys licensed in the State of Tennessee may log in to the Tennessee Attorney Portal.

| I'm an attorney in another state but not licensed in Tennessee. Do I need to create an online account on the Tennessee Attorney Portal?

| I've forgotten my password. How can I retrieve it?
To retrieve a lost or forgotten password, browse to the Attorney Portal Login page and click the “Forgot My Password” link at the bottom. You will be redirected to a page that prompts you to enter the email address associated with your Portal account. After entering your email address, press the “Submit” button, and your password will be emailed to you.
Once you receive the email with the Portal password, browse to the Attorney Portal
Log In page and enter your email address and password to log in to the Attorney Portal.
If you cannot remember the email address associated with the Attorney Portal, or you no longer have access to that email account, you must contact the Tennessee Board of Professional Responsibility Portal support.

| How do I create an online account for the Attorney Portal?
If you are an attorney licensed in the State of Tennessee and do not already have an online account, please contact the Board of Professional Responsibility's Portal support, and we'll create an account for you.

| How do I log in to the Attorney Portal?
Once you have a Portal user account, you can log in to the Attorney Portal by browsing to the Attorney Portal Login page and entering your email address and password.

| I've logged into the Attorney Portal, now what?
Once you've logged into the Attorney Portal, you can update your contact information, change your password, and view your history with the Board of Professional Responsibility. Soon, you'll also be able to pay your annual registration fees and complete your Trust Account Survey online.

| How can I change my name on the Attorney Portal?
Name changes cannot be completed on the Attorney Portal. If you've legally changed your name, you must provide the appropriate documentation to the Board of Professional Responsibility. Once we've received the information, we'll update our records and the name change will be reflected on both our web site and the Attorney Portal.

| I cannot change my date of birth, ethnicity, or the year I was licensed in Tennessee on the Attorney Portal. Why?
Information in the General Section of the Attorney Portal cannot be updated over the Portal. Much of this information requires supporting documentation and must be updated by the Board of Professional Responsibility. If the information is inaccurate or has changed, please contact the Board of Professional Responsibility with the appropriate supporting documentation, and we'll update your record.

| When I enter an address and press save, my address changes. Why?
All addresses are verified with the United States Postal Service address database. When you enter your address, it may be reformatted or modified slightly so that it is compliant with the United States Postal Service's guidelines.

| How can I change my password?
After logging into the Attorney Portal, click on the "Change Password" menu item on the left-hand side of the window under the "Details" heading. Next, click the "Change Password" button on the right-hand side of the window. In the new window that opens, enter your old password followed by your new password and press the "Change Password" button.

| I have two office addresses but the Attorney Portal only has a place for one office address and a home address. Where can I enter the second office address?
As part of our charter, the Board of Professional Responsibility is charged with maintaining a home and office address for each attorney licensed in the State of Tennessee. We use those addresses to communicate with attorneys as needed. The home and office address we have on file for you may be seen in the Information page on the Attorney Portal.
If you have another address that you'd like to have on file with the Board of Professional Responsibility, you may enter it on the "Other Addresses" page of the Attorney Portal. On the left-hand side of the window under the "Details" heading, click "Other Addresses". If you have any other addresses on file with the Board, they will be displayed on the right-hand side of the window.
To add a new address, click the "New" button. In the window that opens, enter the address information. At a minimum, you must enter the Physical Address (Street Address), and the Zip Code. After you've entered the address information, click the "Save" button and close the window. If the new address does not immediately show up in the "Other Addresses" window, press the "Refresh" button, the two green swirling arrows on the right-hand side of the window.

| I don't have an office address and the web site won't allow me to leave it blank. What should I do?
If you do not have an office address, enter your home address in both the Office Address and Home Address sections.

| I have an Other Address listed that's no longer valid. How can I get rid of it?
If an address you've supplied as an Other Address is no longer being used by you, it may be deleted from your profile. On the left-hand side of the window under the "Details" heading, click "Other Addresses". If you have any other addresses on file with the Board, they will be displayed on the right-hand side of the window. Click on the address to highlight the entry. Then move your mouse and hover over the "Actions" button just above the address list. In the menu that drops down below the "Actions" button, click on "Delete". A confirmation box will open to confirm that you indeed want to delete the address. Click "OK" to delete the address; click "Cancel" to leave the address in place.

| What is the Lawyer History window?
The Lawyer History window of the Attorney Portal displays information about your tenure as a licensed attorney in the State of Tennessee. With each significant change in your status, a new row is added to the Lawyer History window. For example, if you started your career practicing law for in the United States Air Force, your status during that time would be listed as “Active – Military Exempt”. If after 10 years of service, you left the Air Force and practiced law as a private citizen, you're status would be changed to “Active”.
In the window, the “Status” column describes your status at each period of your tenure. The “Effective Date” is the date that you received the status and the “Removal Date” is the day that you no longer were considered to have that status. You may have more than one status at a time.
The Lawyer History window is for your review only. It can only be changed by the Board of Professional Responsibility.

| What is the Invoices window?
Each year, as an active and licensed attorney in the State of Tennessee, you are required to register with the Board of Professional Responsibility and pay the registration fee. The Invoices window reflects your current and historical registration payments to the Board. In the future, you will also be able to pay your registration fees online.

| I was recently licensed in another state. How do I add that to my profile?
After logging into the Attorney Portal, click on the "Other States Licensed" link on the left hand-side of the window under "Details". The right-hand side of the window will display a list of states other than Tennessee in which you are licensed to practice law.
If you become licensed in another state, you may add it to your record by clicking the "New State Licensed" button. In the new window that opens, enter the State that issued the license and the date that you received the license. Select an entry from the "License Status" drop down list. If you are currently licensed in the state, leave the "Licensed To" field empty.
After you've entered the information, click the "Save" button. If the new license does not immediately show up in the "Other States Licensed" window, press the "Refresh" button, the two green swirling arrows on the right-hand side of the window.

| I recently surrendered my law license in another state. How can update my record at the Board?
After logging into the Attorney Portal, click on the "Other States Licensed" link on the left-hand side of the window under "Details". The right-hand side of the window will display a list of states other than Tennessee in which you are licensed to practice law.
Double-click on the license entry that you wish to update; another window will open, displaying the licensing information. If you no longer are licensed in the state, change the "License Status" to reflect the current condition and enter the date in the "Licensed To" field.
After you've entered the information, click the "Save" button. If the updated license does not immediately show up in the "Other States Licensed" window, press the "Refresh" button, the two green swirling arrows on the right-hand side of the window.

| What does Primary Address mean?
The Primary Address is the mailing address you prefer the Board use when providing written correspondence. You must select either the home or office address.

| When I try to go to the Attorney Portal, nothing happens. What is wrong?
To provide a rich user experience, the Attorney Portal uses a technology called client-side scripting, or JavaScripting. To use the Attorney Portal, your browser must be configured to allow client-side scripting.
To enable scripting, follow the instructions found in this support document from Microsoft. It describes how to enable scripting in Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, and Netscape.

| When I change my email address in the portal and click save, the next time I log in it still shows my old email address. Why?
When log into the Attorney Portal, your browser caches the email address. This email address is what is shown as your Email Address in the Portal. Your new email address will appear once you've closed your browser and reopened it the next time you log into the portal.

| My business partner and I share an email address. How can we both login to the Attorney Portal?
The Board of Professional Responsibility takes security and privacy very seriously. We strive to ensure that every attorney's personal information is held in the strictest confidence.
There are many layers of technical security built into the Attorney Portal, including requiring a unique userid and password combination for each attorney. Your userid is is your email address, so two or more attorneys cannot share the same email address even if you are in business together.
If you need to create a new email address for yourself, there are free ones available on the internet. For example gmail, Yahoo, and Hotmail all offer free email addresses.

| How can I pay my fees?
You can pay fees owed to the Board of Professional Responsibility using the Attorney Portal. Log on and select the Invoices menu item on the left hand side of the window. You may then elect to pay any unpaid invoices using a MasterCard or Visa credit card. Other cards, such as Diner's Club, American Express, and Debit cards are not accepted.
